Broadband, Phone And TV Deals

Getting the right broadband, TV and phone bundle could save you a significant amount of money over the year.

However, choosing the right package for your needs is not easy, as there are so many of them on the market it can be extremely tough to get the right deal. You can get all three services from Sky, BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk now, but if you do not know what you are looking for, it can be a tough call to get the right one.

The price of the service is key to getting the right deal, but don’t make the mistake of thinking this is the most important factor.

You need to consider everything from the amount of TV channels you will get, crucially what your actual broadband speed is going to be for the area you live in, and what your data limits will be. A number of providers talk about ‘unlimited’ broadband, but that does not tell you the whole story. In reality, you are usually going to be allowed to work ‘within limits’ on an unlimited package, so if you want to watch BBC iPlayer for many hours of the day, then make sure you choose a provider with ‘truly unlimited’ broadband.

The more channels you have, the higher the speed of the service, and the more data you can chomp through, the higher the price will be. So if you are on a budget, consider which elements you are prepared to reduce. TalkTalk’s bundle is one of the cheapest at the time of writing, and you can upgrade to a fibre connection and get YouView TV.

Of course, you may be limited in your options by what you can actually access where you live. For example, nearly half of the UK is not able to get Virgin Media’s TV service and fibre optic broadband as it is only available in its cable network area.

You should also check your internet speed and see what is available where you live, and you can do this with our postcode checker.

There are big savings to be had by bundling your broadband, phone and TV, but it is not the right choice for everyone. So check whether you can actually get a better deal on the various elements by taking a separate deal for each.

This is particularly effective for anyone not that worried about their TV package, as you can get Freeview which has no monthly fee, only an upfront payment for the box.

Yes, some providers – currently Virgin Media and TalkTalk – will allow you to bundle your mobile phone in with the rest of the package. This will reduce your admin, but again, do not assume that because it is cheaper it is better. You need to get the package that works best for you, because paying for a package that does not quite give you what you want is no saving.
