Young Drivers Could Benefit From Mini Insurance.

By Liz King
bmw mini convertIt is nice to see that car companies are at last thinking more about the customer than there pockets or claims department when it comes to insurance. Some are trying to be more appealing to the younger driver.

Over the last few years many car insurers have been in fear of the young male driver and rightly so, with the accident and emergency departments stacking up injured drivers under 25, but at last Mini Financial Services are holding out the olive branch to new car owners.

With the possibility of a year’s insurance costing as little as £99 - Mini Financial Services is extending its mini car insurance to the end of the year, so if want Santa to make an early chimney visit and you want to avoid the increase in VAT, now is probably one of the best times to buy a new car.

Older drivers would benefit from this tasty offer too. It is open for all customers buying a new Mini Convertible or Mini Clubman, as long as you register by December 31, 2010. It means eligible drivers could pay as little £99 for annual car insurance if they are aged between 30 and 80 years old, while those aged 25-29 years old will pay £149 and 21-24 year olds £199.  As well as providing welcome savings for drivers, the policy means you can rest assured that any repairs would be carried out at a Mini Approved Bodyshop using genuine Mini parts.

Joe Pattinson, General Manager, Marketing, BMW Group Financial Services, said the offer was being extended in response to strong positive feedback from customers. “Motorists, particularly younger drivers, may be deterred from considering a new car because they assume insurance will be expensive, but our insurance offer shows that a Mini Convertible or Clubman is an affordable option.  In fact, purchasing with Mini Select allows customers to pay a lower initial deposit and lower monthly repayments while also offering a guaranteed minimum value for new cars at the end of the contract term. We’re advising people who haven’t previously considered dealer finance to get in touch and see how affordable a new Mini can be.”

As with any offer like this, you should always read the small print and check exactly where you would fit in the deal. Drivers aged 21-24 years would have a £199 premium and £500 policy excess, so you would still be wise doing some research on insurance prices, and compare some other quotes to find out whether this really is the best deal you can get, especially if you have any kind of driving convictions.
